Module 09 Part 4: Twelve Key Elements of Practical Personal Finance. 
Concepts and Topics: Strategic spending: used versus new; Dangers of debt and credit card use; and Prudent saving: planning for a “rainy day”.

  1. Students with last names beginning with A-G: How can people get more out of their money?  
  2. Students with last names beginning with H-N:  Do credit cards help people achieve financial success? Why or why not?
  3. Students with last names beginning with O-Z:  Everyone faces “surprise” expenses. A hard drive can crash. Your phone may get wet and stop working. The brakes on your car may go. You could even end up in the emergency room with a sudden, but curable, illness. How should these “unexpected” expenses affect your financial planning?
Task 1:   Review the Outline Notes from slides 28-44 in Part 4: Twelve Key Elements of Practical Personal Finance within the Course Resources Module.  10 min (seat work, by yourself)

Task 2:  Watch and Listen Elements 4.4, 4.5, and 4.6 in your Common Sense Economics eBook (together, lecture discussion)
